Lost Loves Pins

The rough copper stampings were found at a store in New York City. I held on to them for years- a symbol of the way jewelry had been made, but was not anymore.

As I tried to make sense of the sight of the World Trade Center towers going down, it seemed like the right time to use these objects found in New York.  When blackened, the small stampings resembled pilgrim badges or sentimental jewelry pins, and I hoped they could also be endowed with meaning.

The stone settings on the front are missing all their gems. The small dark pins all have an engraving hidden on the back. The words speak of people, love and loss. Tragic, and universal- sadly we suffer losses everyday.
